Butterfly
EthCo - Make a difference

EthCo

Why is it called the Butterfly Award?
It was once suggested that a butterfly flapping its wings
could possibly cause a tornado, due to small atmospheric
changes that the flapping creates. This ‘butterfly effect’
was researched by Edward Lorenz, who suggested that one
very small change could have a huge impact in another way
because of the ripple effect that the action had created.
We would like to challenge you to see how far your ‘ripple’
can go! Can you ‘flap your wings’ and take one small action
that will impact positively on the planet or lives of other
people. As well as this your ‘ripple’ should impact on the
Millennium Development Goals.
We challenge you to come up with a creative and imaginative
project, which you can track to show how far and wide your
ripple has spread, so you can tell us where you have made
a real difference and had positive impact on the world!

Step 1: Choose one Millennium Development Goal that your ‘ripple’ will reach  (see this wbsite for more on the Millennium Development Goals) and decide your project

Step 2:  register your‘ripple’ project on this website by the end of February 2010

Step 3: Carry out the project to finish by end April 2010
Step 4: Put the project description online in this website by 15th May 2010.
Step 5: Prizes and certificates will be awarded for the most innovative and creative projects from early and upper primary and early and upper secondary. Check the website in June for results.
