10. World Energy and Resources
The content of this task can be adapted to suit any Curriculum for Excellence Level.
The developed world is currently using a very high proportion of the World’s resources to produce the energy consumed by its population. This task sets out to explore this issue and the implications for the World as developing countries raise their expectations and consumption to the same level. Pupils will also explore the development and exploitation of natural energy resources and the issues of investment and profit. The task also will focus on the emerging ‘green’ energy technologies. In all of this the impact on the achievement of the Millennium Development Goals will be debated.
