9. Health Around the World
The content of this task can be adapted to suit any Curriculum for Excellence Level.
This task asks the pupils to consider world health issues and the effect of disease on individual communities and countries. Pupils will explore the nature of disease, how it spreads, the effect it can have and the implications for the peoples of the World. They will explore the role of the World Health Organisation and similar bodies, and the efforts and ethics of medical research. They will consider these issues in relation to the achievement of the Millennium Development Goals.
