8. Feeding the World

The content of this task can be adapted to suit any Curriculum for Excellence Level.

Pupils will learn about the diversity of food around the world, differing diets and the effects of these diets on people.They will also learn about the need to develop self sustaining food supplies, the need for aid, the alternatives to direct Aid, and the impact of corruption and theft. Pupils will explore the historical impact of famine and how it happens, sources of food, food shortages, food surpluses, food transportation and finance. The Millennium Development Goals, and how the countries of the world are attempting to meet them form a major part of this task.
