17. Child Health and the MDGs

The content of this task can be adapted to suit any Curriculum for Excellence Level.

Improving the health of children under the age of five world-wide is of major concern for the United Nations. Children are our future, but they are at risk not just in developed countries but also in developing countries. This task sets out to raise awareness amongst pupils in Scotland of the problems which affect young children under the age of five, with particular regard to the aims of the UN under the Millennium Development Goals. Pupils will work together in small groups, sharing the tasks, and will demonstrate their findings to a chosen audience. Use of Internet resources will play a key part in this task.

Some useful weblinks for this task are given here, and there are more in the 'Links Library' under 'Resources'.

However further research should be undertaken when working the task.
