The EthCo interdisciplinary tasks are available as free downloadable A4 pdf files.
The first three tasks are available in a variety of formats. These tasks created considerable interest and enthusiasm in schools. The Butterfly Challenge in 2010 also produced excellent entries with great ideas.
It became evident that there was a need to produce more tasks to cover all of the issues raised in the Millennium Development Goals, and ideas for tasks started to emerge from delegates at the various EthCo events and from the schools involved in the Butterfly Challenge.
In late 2010 Dave Whitelaw and Helen Maclean set out to research the Millennium Development Goals and produce EthCo tasks to meet these needs and incorporate the ideas coming from schools.
The result in early 2011 was the creation of a further seventeen tasks, but this time written in a broader fashion to allow their adaptation by schools to any level of Curriculum for Excellence.
The full suite of twenty tasks were put to school staff at a number of small events and were met with huge enthusiasm, being seen as an excellent means of meeting the Curriculum for Excellence Interdisciplinary work, and helping to educate our pupils as Global Citizens.
